Kelsey Lennox named Arthur fair ambassador

ARTHUR – Kelsey Lennox has been crowned the 2022-23 Arthur Fall Fair ambassador.

A crowning ceremony was held on the afternoon of Sept. 11, the final day of the 2022 Arthur Fall Fair, at the Arthur and Area Community Centre.

Lennox, daughter of Damascus-area residents Andy and Susan Lennox, competed for the title with Alexis Herriot of Arthur.

The two competitors were graded on a points-based system in categories such as interview responses, résumé, and stage presence.

Standing on stage before around 70 people on Sunday, Lennox reacted to being chosen, raising a hand to her face in what seemed a state of shock.

“I don’t know where to begin,” she remarked after receiving the shiny, red sash bearing her new title from previous Emma Smyth.

Lennox also thanked her sponsor, Arthur Foodland.

Smyth gave a heartfelt departure speech at times filled with emotion.

How quickly time has passed, she said, and spoke of how honoured she is to have represented Arthur.

Smyth then blew a kiss to “fair mom” Debbie Atkinson, seated nearby.
