John Kissick guest speaker at Elora Arts Council lecture series

John Kissick will be the guest speaker for the Elora Arts Council’s second of three winter series art lectures.

The event will take place on Feb. 21 at 2pm in the Community room of the Fergus library. Tickets are $10 at the door and seating is limited to 50.  

Kissick’s exhibition record includes over 30 solo exhibits in Canada, the U.S. and Germany. His works have been included in survey exhibitions on contemporary art, the most recent of which is touring between 2015 and 2017. Kissick’s paintings are held in numerous public and private collections.

He has held academic posts in Canada and the U.S., including director of the school of fine arts and music at the University of Guelph from 2003 to 2014. As an art critic and essayist, Kissick has written catalogue essays and periodical articles. As a curator, he received the 2014 Ontario Association of Art Galleries award for curatorial writing.  

Kissick was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts in 2005.
