TORONTO - The province’s agriculture minister, Lisa Thompson, met with leaders in the food supply chain on March 1, discussing the issue of food security and collaborated on strategies to “help Ontario’s food supply chain remain one of the strongest, safest and stable in the world.”

The Ontario Food Summit was attended by over 125 agri-food stakeholders who discussed how to add resiliency, boost competitiveness and create jobs and economic growth in the province.

“Our partners in the food supply chain all have an important role to play,” Thompson stated in a press release, adding that she appreciated hearing thoughts and ideas on “actions needed to continue a safe and stable food supply.

“The ideas we heard today will help us strengthen and build the sector for the future,” she added.

The release did not provide any detail about the ideas discussed at the summit.
