Invitation extended to Riverstown landfill open house

KENILWORTH – On May 13 Wellington County councillor Steve O’Neill  invited members of Wellington North council to an open house at the Riverstown landfill site on May 22 from 10am to 2pm.

The event is part of Wellington County’s Engineering Services Department celebration of National Public Works Week from May 19 to 25.

Visitors can see how waste is diverted or buried, and check out the living snow fence tree nursery and Kettle Ponds.  In addition, O’Neill noted there will be a barbecue lunch from noon to 1pm.

O’Neil said, “Come hungry, because the seagulls will be.”

Drayton garage grand opening

O’Neill added on May 24, the new Drayton Roads Garage will have a grand opening at 11am to noon.

It is a chance to explore the new facility and see heavy equipment used by the county roads department.

O’Neill said the garage “may give a peak as to what a new county works garage for Arthur will look like should Mayor Andy Lennox have it built by 2021.”

By means of explanation, O’Neill said Lennox currently chairs Wellington County’s roads committee.
