GUELPH – Hospice Wellington announced it has been accredited by the Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPCO) standards.
These sector standards promote quality and consistency in hospices across the province.
HPCO accreditation signifies to health professionals, the public, and sponsors that an organization, institution or program complies with industry standards and has been recognized by HPCO based on a rigorous review of overall performance by industry peers.
Hospice Wellington is the first hospice organization to achieve complete accreditation under HPCO.
Hospice Wellington has also received full re-accreditation with Imagine Canada standards, originally achieved in 2013.
“On the journey toward great governance, organizations pursue accreditation as a public testament to their commitment to the highest standards of transparency and accountability. We offer our sincere congratulations to the newly accredited and re-accredited organizations, key players in our Standards network of 280 organizations nationwide,” said Imagine Canada president and CEO Bruce MacDonald in a press release.
“Gratitude is extended to the community we serve; those clients, families, donors and stakeholders who put their faith in that excellence and see and support the high standards to which we aspire,” officials state in a press release.
Hospice Wellington executive director Pat Stuart provided words of gratitude in the release.
“This is an important milestone for our organization,” she said.
