CENTRE WELLINGTON – Lynn Smillie is doing it again.
For the eighth year, she and her husband Peter Creighton are hosting Hooves for Hospice, a horse-riding fundraiser for Hospice Wellington.
Smillie has dedicated the event to her father James Smillie, who died of cancer in 2017.
The funds raised will go towards supplies for the Hospice Wellington kitchen that’s used by families supporting their loved ones.
The ride is slated for Oct. 18 rain or shine. Check-in is from 8:30 to 10:30am and the ride begins at 11am sharp at 6065 4th Line.
“Bring your horse and ride over beautiful private properties just outside of Fergus. Raise funds for this worthy cause,” states a press release.
Participants can choose one of three riding speeds: walk/trot/canter; walk/trot; or walk only.
The minimum pledge is $85 and includes the ride, a hot lunch and prizes for top pledges raised by participants.
Preregistration is required before Oct. 10. All participants must sign waivers, have OEF/CRHRA coverage, and must wear helmets.
