A homeowner’s quick thinking saved his house from potentially going up in flames.

The Rockwood fire station received a call for a structure fire on the evening of Jan. 28 at a house on the 4th Line west of Rockwood.

The homeowner was repairing his snowmobile in his garage when the vehicle caught fire.

Luckily he was able to drag the snowmobile out onto his lawn with minimal damage to the outside of the garage, Guelph-Eramosa fire department deputy chief Jim Petrik told the Advertiser.

Firefighters extinguished the snowmobile fire and confirmed the interior of the garage was not damaged.

The homeowner sustained minor burns to his hands. The snowmobile was destroyed.
