Hillside winter festival returning to Guelph

Indoor music celebration set for Feb. 2 and 3

GUELPH – Another edition of Hillside Inside is making its way to Guelph from Feb. 2 to 4.

Hillside Inside is an annual winter celebration of music and community in the downtown Guelph core.

Friday

The first day of the winter festival will include Matt Andersen with special guest Abigail Lapell on Feb. 2 at 8pm.

“My first set at Hillside was a bit of fluke for me,” Andersen said in a press release from his long-time home in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

“I went in as a relative unknown, but as luck would have it, just before my set it started to downpour. That drove everybody into my tent.

“So, my first set was to a jam-packed tent. A great way to kick off a festival.”

Andersen will perform solo at the River Run Centre as a testament to how far he’s come from surprising people at Guelph Lake, to crafting 10 albums that have made him an international song writer and a live favourite, who can fill theatres.

More information and tickets can be found at riverrun.ca with different seat selections available.

Saturday and Sunday

The second day of the music celebration will be on Feb. 3 featuring Youth Showcase, Girls and Guitars, Hillside Homegrown: A Community Showcase and NOBRO with a special guest to be determined.

‘Huge hit’

“NOBRO was such a huge hit at Hillside 2022 that we thought we’d bring them back as a special treat just for you,” said festival organizers in an emailed press release to the Advertiser.

“See them on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Royal City Mission in downtown Guelph, and keep an eye on our social media for the special guest announcement!”

The show will begin at 8pm and tickets can be found at: eventbrite.ca for $31.58.

The Sunday show will feature Minuscule at 2pm.
