ABOYNE – Despite chilly temperatures, bright sunshine set the stage for a successful Snow Poker Challenge event on Jan. 31 hosted by the Elora Cataract Trailway Association.

Participants bundled up and took to the route behind the Wellington County Museum and Archives with enthusiasm, enjoying a brisk winter walk combined with the excitement of the game.

The clear skies and fresh air added to the festive atmosphere.

Participants received their first card at the beginning of the trail and along the way picked up additional cards at key points.

By the end of the walk they had five cards – a poker hand, which was compared with others to determine the winner.

Prizes were awarded for the best hand, worst hand, and a random draw.

“Organizers would like to extend a sincere thank-you to Highland Plumbing Services Inc. and Nick’s Quick Delivery for their generous donations, which made the prizes possible.

“We’d also like to thank the Tim Hortons on St. Andrew St. in Fergus for the hot drinks and tasty treats. Their support helped turn the Snow Poker Challenge into a fun, memorable event for everyone involved,” organizers stated in a press release.

Funds raised help maintain and preserve the Elora Cataract Trailway a multi-use recreation corridor enjoyed year round.
