Centre Wellington Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj said residents can expect higher than normal river levels over the next short while.
On April 15, the mayor told members of council there are warnings out regarding river levels.
“You can see right now that, it’s high water and it’s fast water and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get much better in the next few days,” said Ross-Zuj.
She noted the most recent News release from the GRCA came to the township earlier that same day.
At that time 15 to 20mm of rain fell Sunday into Lake Belwood. “The reservoirs have reached their capacity, therefore the discharge from those reservoirs will be higher for the next couple of days.”
Ross-Zuj added that river banks are unstable, very slippery “and they pose a real danger to anyone going near the water. They’re just not safe at this time.”
