Council is considering removing the heritage component from its tourism heritage arts and culture committee.

Mayor David Anderson said that further, a recommendation is being considered that a heritage committee be developed as a separate committee of council.

While the motion had a mover, Anderson said the idea was to send it back to the original committee to ask what the governance structure of the new committee would be, along with terms of reference.

“We never really did get a terms of reference for the heritage committee.

“At this time, I’d like to postpone this motion.”

Councillor Barb Burrows asked if that would replace the existing heritage committee in Minto - or if it would incorporate those members.

Deputy-Mayor Judy Dirksen agreed that is the type of thing that needs to be decided.

After a further brief discussion, council deferred the motion.
