Help stuff the cruiser

C. WELLINGTON TWP.  – The Centre Wellington Food Bank is seeking help for Thanksgiving.

OPP Constable Mark Cloes said the food bank in any given month assists more than 260 people with basic needs for groceries, and this broken down is about 40% children, and 20% seniors. The Thanksgiving Food Drive helps sustain the Centre Wellington Food Bank for assisting the needy throughout the remainder of the year.

The county OPP Auxiliary is again teaming up with community partner Zehrs Markets at 800 Tower St., S. in Fergus for the annual Stuff the Cruiser food drive. This weekend OPP Auxiliary police officers will be manning a station outside the Zehrs Markets looking for non perishable or canned food items to assist the local food bank.

 Collection times are Oct. 7 from 4 to 8pm; Oct. 8 from 8am  to 6pm; and Oct. 9 from 9am  to 6pm.

Cloes said last year, through the generosity of community members, more than 5,000 pounds of food and over $2,400 in cash was donated to the Centre Wellington Food Bank. He asked that the community assist again.
