A total of 96,563 H1N1 doses have been administered or distributed in the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Board of Health area as of Dec. 22.
This represents 35% of the population of 273,918 (using the 2006 census). The vaccine distribution includes:
– 43,230 doses distributed to physician offices;
– 3,590 doses to hospitals for immunization of staff;
– 4,813 to long-term care homes, retirement homes and other health facilities for staff and residents;
– 3,660 for workplace clinics by nursing agencies; and
– 2,000 for faculty and staff at the University of Guelph.
Seasonal influenza
A total of 22,642 doses of seasonal influenza vaccine were administered through the community H1N1 clinics.
That equates to 8% of the population, and exceeds any previous year for number of doses given at Public Health clinics.
