Headwaters Arts kicks off Fall Festival on Sept. 15

ALTON – Headwaters Arts Fall Festival kicks off Sept. 15 with the Opening Night Soiree of the Fall Festival’s Juried Art Show and Sale at the Alton Mill Arts Centre in Alton from 6 to 9pm. 

The 26th Annual Art Show and Sale is Headwaters Arts flagship, fundraising event of the year and runs until Oct. 2. Attendees will have an opportunity to get a first glimpse of art work on exhibited by 54 artists accepted from across Ontario, who have created a diverse selection of subject matter and mediums. 

Attendees can meet the artists, purchase art, enjoy Gregory’s catering and cool refreshments, conversation and jazzy music by The Sidemen and great art. 

The event includes presentations of the student award and the juror awards as chosen by jurors, Joanne Poluch and Todd Tremeer. 

The 19-day fall festival is filled with a line-up of scheduled events under a tented roof including: an arts market on Sept. 17, from 10am to 5pm, showcasing original art works created by over 15 artists and honouring Alton’s Bicentennial; a jurors’ walk on Sept. 18 from 2 to 4pm (including reception/light refreshments); a live concert on Sept. 30 by The Campfire Poets from 7:30 to 10pm (including bar/refreshments); and “A Bookish Afternoon” on Oct. 2 from 2 to 5pm with alcoholic and light drinks, featuring readings by authors: Eva Stachniak, Steve Burrows and Bianca Marais.

The Art Market and Jurors Walk are free events—all are welcome.
