Head of Terrace is okay after collapse at county council meet

Peter Barnes appeared to be the least worried person in the room.

Barnes, the administrator at the Wellington Terrace Long Term Seniors Home suddenly took ill during a closed session of county council on May 27. His collapse brought the meeting to a halt.

Emergency personnel arrived but Barnes was already  starting to recover. The paramedics took him to Guelph General Hospital for tests.

Just prior to being taken out on a stretcher, Barnes had those in the council chamber laughing as he quipped, “Save me lunch.”

When open council began its afternoon session, Warden Joanne Ross-Zuj announced that Barnes appeared to be fine, but he was undergoing some tests at the hospital.

Chief Administrative Officer Scott Wilson said Monday morning that Barnes went to work the day after the incident, although he did not stay the entire day.
