Haynes, Eric Horace; August 23, 1925 – August 7, 2013. Passed away, with quiet dignity in the presence of his family in his 88th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Maggie in 2010, he leaves daughters Patricia (Graham Smith) and Gillian (Paul Federico), six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who all loved him. A proud Second World War Veteran of the Royal Corps of Signals, he served in Burma in the 14th Army and continued to be a dedicated monarchist all his life. In the last year he fought hard against many health setbacks but was determined to the end. The family wishes to thank Dr. Cheryl Pridham and her colleagues of the Elora Medical Group, nurses, doctors and the staff of the Groves Memorial Hospital and staff of the Waterloo-Wellington CCAC for their care and consideration. They are also grateful for the loving care and generosity of time and spirit of Cheryl and Lloyd, Jodi, Laura and Dave, Myra and David, Lynda, Laura, and Doug. In accordance with Eric’s wishes, there will be no funeral service; however, a celebration of his life will be held at the end of the summer.
