A motorcycle-minivan collision has claimed the life of a Harriston man.

Dead is Thomas Black. He was 48 years old.

On July 4 at about  4:15pm Wellington County OPP officers were called to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a 1985 Yamaha motor cycle and a 2004 Ford Freestar minivan on Wellington Road 109 near the 5th Line in the Town of Minto.

The motorcycle was travelling southbound and the minivan was travelling northbound.

The drivers of the vehicles were transported to the Palmerston Hospital. Black succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while the 60-year-old female driver of the minivan from Kincardine suffered minor injuries.

The Minto Fire Department and Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) also attended the scene.  Wellington Victim Services provided support to the families.

The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police to call constable Steve Wing at the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
