Guild set to stage Things My Mother Taught Me

The Grey Wellington Theatre Guild (GWTG) is putting the hilarious and heart-warming romantic comedy, Things My Mother Taught Me on stage this fall.

The Katherine DiSavino play will be directed by guild veteran Peggy Raftis and features a cast of talented local performers. The cast includes several experienced GWTG actors: Sean Reihl and Maija McCahery of Mount Forest, Patricia Von Westerholt and Bob Harron of Harriston, Jessica Reinhart of Clifford and Nick Hennig of Walkerton. Dave Fear of Minto, in his first role with the guild, rounds out the cast.

Things My Mother Taught Me is a tale of two young lovebirds who received some unexpected assistance from their parents on moving day.

Raftis says audiences will be able to relate to the situations in the play as the couple interacts with two divergent sets of in-laws.

“It’s funny, but it’s believable. The humour is in the realism,” she said.

“This is not just a comedy, although the humour is there … it is a love story – one between young lovers, one between long time married couples and that of a love a parent has for a child – no matter how old they are,” she added.

The show runs Nov. 17, 23, 24 and 25 at 7:30pm, Nov. 18 at 8pm (following the Harriston Santa Claus parade) and Nov. 19 at 2pm  at the fully-accessible Harriston Town Hall Theatre.

Tickets, $15, are available at Harriston Home Hardware, Palmerston Home Hardware and Walsh’s IDA in Mount Forest, or go to greywellingtontheatre.com for information.
