Guild hold auditions for new musical

Director Neville Worsnop invites actors and singers to audition for Spitfire Dance, an exciting new Canadian musical by Clint Ward that is being produced by Century Theatre Guild at Century Church Theatre in Hillsburgh.

This musical, full of memorable songs from the Second World War, tells the little-known story of the unsung heroines of wartime aviation.

Intensely personal reminiscences relate the experience of women flyers of the Air Transport Auxiliary, many of them Canadian, including the tragic Amy Johnson.

One of them stated, “You could dance with a Spitfire”, inspiring the title. The audience will feel their frustrations, share their triumphs, and above all, love them for their courage and spirit, organizers state.

The show requires one male actor/singer, one female actor/singer, one male and up to five female actors for non-singing roles. Skill with accents is an asset.

Auditions will take place on May 7 at 10am, at the theatre, 72 Trafalgar Road, Hillsburgh.

Rehearsals will be throughout July and August, by arrangement with cast.

The show will run Sept. 9 to 18. Audition sides (scripts) are available at jophenix@sympatico.ca, or by calling Neville at 519-855-4586.
