Guelph Rotary Club celebrates Earth Day with educational events

GUELPH – The Rotary Club of Guelph is hosting a celebratory evening for Earth Day at the Bookshelf Cinema with a special film and speakers.

This year’s International Earth Day theme is “planet versus plastics.”

In honour of the theme, the Emmy Award-winning film The Story of Plastic will be screened.

The film starts at 7pm on April 22, with doors at 6:30pm. Tickets are pay-what-you-can.

Participants will be automatically entered to win an environmentally friendly prize bag with products to help with reducing plastic.

The film will be followed by a live Q&A with three local experts:

University of Guelph professor and tier one Canada research chair in sustainable biocomposites Dr. Manjusri Misra;

City of Guelph waste program coordinator of compliance, performance and environmental services Madeleine Myhill; and

Refill Store owner Lindsey Oman.

Organizers say the event will be “an incredible evening not to be missed.”
