Guelph officer charged by SIU
GUELPH - A Guelph Police officer has been charged with assault by the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
An adult male sustained injuries during an incident on Arkell Road in Guelph on Oct. 12, 2019 while the 12-year member of the Guelph Police Service was on duty.
Police officials say the officer has been reassigned to administrative duties and is to appear in Guelph court of on Feb. 14.
“The Guelph Police Service’s Professional Standards Branch will also be conducting a review of the circumstances,” police stated in a press release.
