Guelph Masons to celebrate milestone

The Guelph Masonic Temple is celebrating 100 years in the same location in the city’s core.

The building, located on Chapel Lane and originally dedicated in 1914, is one of six Masonic Lodges in the city.

There have been several additions to the large three-storey structure over the years, including over $1 million in renovations 14 years ago.

The lodge is holding an open house from 2 to 4pm on July 26.

A celebration banquet will also be held at 5:30pm following the open house at the Italian Canadian Club in Guelph.

Lodge president Paul Johnson, who lives in Fergus and works for Wellington County, is expected to welcome Ontario Grand Master Donald Campbell to the celebration, as well as deputy Grand Master and Wellington County councillor John Green, of Mapleton.
