GUELPH – Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis, along with commiity partners, is launching a local 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence campaign.
This is part of a global U.N. campaign that runs between November 25 (The International Day to End Violence Against Women) and December 10 (International Human Rights Day).
During these 16 days, cities around the world take action to raise awareness about the impacts of gender-based violence, support survivors and create change.
Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis, along with many partner organizations, is bringing the campaign to Guelph this year by hosting a variety of events.
“With inspiring, creative and thought-provoking workshops, talks, evenings out and more, there’s something in the calendar for everyone,” officials say.
“Rates of intimate partner violence, sexual violence and human trafficking are the highest they’ve been in decades, and it’s critical that everyone in our community knows that as friends, family members, co-workers and neighbours, we can all play a role in addressing it,” they continue.
“Getting out to an event is a simple and effective way to take a stand against violence in our community and show survivors that we have their backs.”
