GUELPH – The reunion committee for nine Guelph Township Public Schools held a reunion on June 1 at the Guelph Curling Club. Over 130 people came to visit former schoolmates and friends and to celebrate. “It was a wonderful time in the history of education,” said committee member Barb Leachman. Attendees came from as far as B.C., Penetanguishene, Elmvale, Cornwall and Texas. Committee members include 93-year-old Marion Campbell and 91-year-old Joyce Blyth.  Campbell initiated the idea of holding the school reunions and enthusiastically encouraged people to attend. She also inspired the writing of a history book, including a chapter on each of the nine schools as well as one each on early education, school fairs, inspectors and some previous school reunions. Blyth wrote several chapters in the book and she had a display at the reunion with some old readers and memorabilia from the 1930s and 40s.
