Guelph-Eramosa council has decided leasing is the way to go for a new grader.

Council decided at its June 2 meeting to lease a 2013 demonstrator John Deere grader for the remainder of the year at a cost of about $21,800. At the end of the year, council will consider continuing the lease or purchasing the vehicle.

If council decides to continue the lease next year the annual cost, according to a report from director of finance Linda Cheyne, would be about $46,600.

The leasing cost will be offset by the sale of the township 2006 grader for $67,000.

If council decides to purchase the new grader at the end of the year, Cheyne said it will cost about $264,600.
