A one-day workshop on Sept. 22 from 9am to 4pm will help people learn to grow their own native trees and shrubs from seed.

Characteristic seeds will be collected while touring part of The Arboretum. Participants will learn first hand various techniques for cleaning, treating and sowing seeds and how to protect them as seeds and young plants. A tour of The Arboretum’s native plant nursery will help participants set up their own project.

Horticulturist Sean Fox will lead the workshop. The registration fee is $7. For more information or to register call The Arboretum at 824-4120 extension 52358. The registration deadline is Thursday, Sept. 15.
