Wellington County's first baby of 2025 born to Fergus couple at Groves hospital

FERGUS  – Maeve Barry Roberts is the first baby born in 2025 in Wellington County.

Weighing in at seven pounds, 12 ounces, she was born on Jan. 1 at 6:25 am at Groves Memorial Community Hospital.

She is the first child of parents Brittany Smeltzer and Jacob Roberts.

They were married two years ago and live in Fergus.

Roberts told the Advertiser both Maeve and Smeltzer are happy and healthy.
