The Groves Foundation reached a milestone on Dec. 11 with a donation from Bank of Montreal (BMO).

Members of BMO presented foundation officials with a $100,000 donation.

With this donation, the Groves Foundation has reached $7.6 million - over a third of the $20-million funding goal for the new hospital.

“You’re investing in the future,” said Jermone Quenneville, president and CEO of Groves Memorial Community Hospital (GMCH)during the presentation.

GMCH is currently pre-qualifying bidders, said Quenneville, adding he hopes to go out to tender in May.

The hospital is slated to open in 2019.

The new hospital will sit on a 34-acre parcel of land just east of the Wellington County Museum and Archives on Wellington Road 18 in Aboyne.
