Group planning Clifford reunion in 2017

Several meetings have been held by a group planning a reunion in Clifford in the spring of 2017.

The year was chosen to coincide with Canada’s 150th anniversary and the reunion is planned for early August.

Bill Smith of W.C. Smith Wholesale Ltd. in Clifford is spearheading the reunion and has contacted people from other area communities who have delved into similar celebrations to learn as much as possible about committees, costs and co-operation.

The initial meeting in October at Smith’s office garnered such a response from the community, that the meeting was moved to the Salem Room at the Knox United Church in Clifford.

The group determined there was sufficient interest to proceed, choose a date, select a chair and committee leaders, and discuss ideas and events.

The committees and volunteers met on Jan. 10 to share thoughts and find ways to engage people in the celebration.

Smith believes “every town, big or small has a story … Clifford has one too.”
