Grocery stores helped city youth groups
The YMCA-YWCA here has received the support of four area Zehrs stores that raised over $9,000 in June for the Strong Kids campaign.
Each of the stores encouraged shoppers to donate $2 to the campaign to help kids and to provide membership subsidies to families that need it most.
“We want to thank the store owners, manager, and especially all the front line staff who took part in the campaign,” said Marva Wisdom, the chairman of the campaign and board member of the YMCA-YWCA of Guelph.
Through community barbecues and staff involvement and donations, each store raised the following amounts:
- $1,681, Eramosa;
- $978, Hartsland;
- $1,402, Fergus; and
- Imperial, $5,018.
This year’s campaign by the YMCA-YWCA has raised almost $90,000.
