Grey Wellington Glee Club seeks music lovers

Area residents who enjoy singing are invited to join the newly-formed Grey Wellington Glee Club.

The group evolved out of a recent Grey Wellington Theatre Guild musical production, said organizer Joy Murray of Harriston.

“I was involved in The Wizard of Oz (last November) and found that some people there just enjoyed getting together and singing. So we said wouldn’t it be nice if we had something musical in the theatre that we could do year-round?”

The group has held two sessions at the Harriston Town Hall Theatre. The first focused on songs from The Sound of Music, while the second included tunes from Grease. Each session includes an introduction, warm up, overview and 5 to 6 songs.

Murray says there is no experience needed to participate.

“Just come on out share your love of music, maybe learn something new, maybe teach us something new.”

Murray says the group isn’t planning any public performances at this point, but might down the line for those interested.

“At the moment, it’s just for a bit of fun”

The club is open to participants of all ages, but asks that children 10 and under be accompanied by an adult.

The group is taking a break for the month of March, but plans to get together again in April.

Future dates and themes will be posted on the guild’s website www.greywellingtontheatre.com. For more information email gwtg@wightman.ca.

“Come out have fun and just enjoy music with a bunch of like-minded people,” Murray urges.
