Grand Valley man faces child pornography charges

GRAND VALLEY – A Grand Valley man has been charged following a four-month police investigation involving child sexual abuse material.

On July 31, Dufferin County OPP officers, aided by the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and Digital Forensic Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in Grand Valley.

Police seized multiple electronic devices for examination.

William Chester Elliott, 43, of Grand Valley, was charged with: possession of child pornography, distributing child pornography, possession of a prohibited device and careless storage of a firearm.

He is to appear in Orangeville court on Aug. 13

“The [OPP] will continue to aggressively identify and pursue individuals who use technology to exploit children,” states an OPP press release.

“Parents are reminded to take a proactive approach to help protect their children from online sexual exploitation by speaking with their children regarding internet safety.”

Police say parents can find resources at www.cybertip.ca.
