GRAND VALLEY – The 35th edition of the Grand Valley Lions Club Polar Bear Dip took place at Stuckey Park in Grand Valley on Jan. 3. The event was moved from its traditional New Year’s Day slot due to tricky ice conditions. That didn’t deter dippers, and their many enthusiastic supporters, who cheered loudly as they slid into the chilly waters of the Grand River. The air temperature was -7 C, and the water was three degrees celsius. All proceeds from the event went to Dufferin Foodshare.

The intrepid polar bear dippers were supported by a large crowd of well-wishers.
John Fornear and daughter Victoria, from Orangeville, were dressed for the occasion.
