Grand Theatre volunteer appreciation and recruitment night

The Fergus Grand Theatre volunteers are hosting a volunteer appreciation and recruitment night on June 18 at 7pm in the theatre lobby.

It’s also a birthday party of sorts. Many of the theatre’s current volunteers have been involved with the building for 20 or even 30 years or more, and this year marks the 10th anniversary of the formal establishment of the Fergus Grand Theatre volunteers as an organized body.

The Fergus Grand Theatre volunteers collectively donate over 3,500 hours per year to the theatre, working as ushers, house managers, concession managers, and box office staff.

The money they raise through these efforts goes towards capital and operational projects that the theatre would be otherwise unable to undertake. These projects have led to reduced costs, increased services, and made the building a more inviting place to be.

New volunteers are always in high demand, but recent growth in the number of events at the theatre has made the need for additional people all the more urgent. People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome and no previous experience in theatre or the performing arts is necessary. People are free to sign up at the event, or simply chat with current volunteers about what it’s like to work at the theatre. No RSVP is necessary, and light refreshments will be provided.

Anyone with questions  can call the box office at 519-787-1981, email the theatre coordinator at egoudie@centrewellington.ca or drop in at the box office at 244 St. Andrew Street.
