The Grand River Hospital Foundation was proud to continue its cycling legacy, in support of patient care at Grand River Regional Cancer Centre (GRRCC) with the 2014 Grand Ride.
On Sept. 6, 40 riders and special guests including former Olympians Steve Bauer, Curt Harnett along with KOOL FM’s Angie Hill took to the roads around Waterloo Region on a police escorted ride to raise funds for the best cancer care close to home.
Alan Doyle from Great Big Sea provided entertainment at the pre-ride reception at Langdon Hall Sept. 5.
Each cyclist raised a minimum of $5,000 to participate. In total, $200,000 was raised in support of cancer care at Grand River Hospital. A new format allowed riders the option of a 120km ride or a more relaxed 75km route.
According to Rainer Mueller, chair of the ride, “We are thrilled with the success of the 2014 Grand Ride. The cyclists had an excellent day, and are very committed to their fundraising efforts in support of patient care.”
