Good Brothers back for Rockwood benefit

The Good Brothers will entertain once again when Rockwood Lions and Lioness Clubs host their eighth annual benefit and dinner dance on May 9.

The event is at the Rockmosa Community Centre in support of five area residents participating in the “One Walk to Conquer Cancer.” That is a Sept. 12 25km walk through Toronto to support the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Rockwood Lioness president Doris Ens said the event originated eight years ago, when she approached the Lions and Lioness clubs about supporting it, because her daughter Colleen was planning to walk. Participants must raise a minimum of $1,500, she notes.

The Good Brothers have been performing at the Rockwood event since it’s inception. Ens said the group were able to get the eight time Juno award winners to perform through contacts made by her son, Jim Ens, who was a roadie with the popular band during the 1980s.

Tickets for the event, which includes a dinner are $35 and attendees are eligible to enter draws for variety of prizes provided by over 70 local businesses.
