On Jan. 28, Wellington County OPP responded to a theft at an aviary on First Line in Erin, north-east of Acton.

Police say sometime between Jan. 27 and 28 unknown suspects entered the facility and stole a golden eagle valued at approximately $15,000.

The eagle, known as Riff-Raff, is brown with white flecks and approximately three years old, 76 cm (two and a half feet) tall and 6kg (13lbs).

While the eagle is a show and demonstration bird it is not a pet and should not be approached.

It is believed the thief would have extensive knowledge and training to handle a bird this size. There are no indications that this was an act of protest.

OPP is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip online at www.csgw.tips. You may be eligible for a reward from Crime Stoppers of up to $2,000.
