GODDARD, Douglas. After a brief illness, peacefully passed away at Groves Memorial in Fergus, on April 30th. Born in Hamilton in 1938, he spent his early life there and in the late 1970s moved his family to Elora where he remained the rest of his days. Doug was a Millwright/Stationary Engineer and received his 25 year watch at National Standard in Guelph, and continued working until his illness in January 2015. Doug had a colourful personality and loved to socialize with people everywhere he went. He always found the positives in every situation and in more difficult times looked for opportunities to learn and grow from them. He was an avid Blue Jays fan and watched every game. Doug is pre-deceased by his parents Alex & Muriel and baby son Wayne. Doug leaves behind his wife and soul mate of 40 years Diane. He is survived by his children James (Tammy), Kathy (Mike), Laura Lee (Dan), & Brian (Nicole). He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his siblings Margaret (Ed), Garth (Pat), and Sheila (Larry). A celebration of life will be held for family and friends on May 10th from 2pm to 4pm at the Fergus Legion Hall, 500 Blair St., Fergus, ON.
