Genealogy workshop coming to Wellington County Museum and Archives, April 5
Learn about the story of the British Home Children and the pivotal role they have played in the historical development of Canada.
A genealogy workshop on British Home Children will take place at the Wellington County Museum and Archives on April 5 from 1 to 5pm.
An estimated 120,000 “Home Children” came to Canada from Britain from 1860 to 1930.
Author Sandra Joyce, and genealogical researchers Lori Oschefski and Karen Mahoney, will speak at this workshop. They will delve into the background of these British children who were brought to Canada to work as farm hands and domestics.
“This is your chance to hear experienced researchers who will give you insight into where you can find information about British Home Children sent to Canada and the history of this migrant program,” said archivist Karen Wagner.
