Gardening writer to share her stories at local book store

Sonia Day, a writer and gardening columnist for the Toronto Star, will be at Roxanne’s Reflections Book and Card Shop here on Nov. 30 to share some stories from her latest book.

Day is the author of seven books, including the national best seller Incredible Edibles: 43 Fun Things to Grow in the City, which won silver at the Canadian Cookbook Awards, as well as The Urban Gardener and Tulips: Facts and Folklore About the World’s Most Planted Flower, winner of a Garden Globe Award.

Her new book, The Untamed Garden: A Revealing Look at our Love Affair with Plants, was recently published by McClelland and Stewart.

In her latest book, Day, a master gardener, brings together tidbits from myth, history, botany and plant lore to reveal how plants have seduced hearts, minds and bodies throughout the ages.

Organized in thematic chapters and featuring full-colour photos and illustrations, the book is a tribute to what she sees as a fascination with plants.

Day will share tales from The Untamed Garden on Nov. 30 at 7pm at Roxanne’s Reflections Book and Card Shop (152 St. Andrew St. West, Fergus).
