Funky Mamas on Grammy ballot
Guelph’s own Funky Mamas are just finishing their Pickin’ in the Garden CD release tour for their third CD with what could be a potential Grammy award-winning album. With seven shows in total, the Mamas started their release tour in Guelph and also performed in Kingston, Ottawa, and Wakefield (QC).
The Funky Mamas have been sharing their love of live music since 1998, when the local moms met at a playgroup in the community. Since those humble beginnings, the Mamas have toured across Canada, released two previous CDs, have collaborated on various compilations, and won many awards This quartet of Tannis Maynard Langedijk, Georgia Urban, Kate Vsetula and Chantal von Maydell play original and funkified traditional tunes.
