Foundation uses professionals to promote giving

The Centre Wellington Community Foundation (CWCF) recently hosted a special presentation for professional advisors from the township to learn about the role they play in the financial success of their clients and their community.

Nearly 30 financial planners, accountants, and lawyers from Centre Wellington attended the two-hour session to learn how good financial planning can assist individuals in giving charitable gifts now and in the future.

“Professional advisors are often the unsung heroes of a family’s financial success. We believe they are also key to helping individuals think about their long-term charitable giving,” said keynote speaker Brad Offman, vice-president of philanthropy at Mackenzie Financial.

“The sooner people involve their advisors in their giving dreams, the more impact they can have.”

Randall Howard, the group’s chairman, spoke to the group about the importance of giving locally.

“Anyone interested in setting up a fund or thinking about making a large charitable gift should call the people already a part of their financial planning,” said Howard. “Making a gift to one or more charities is an incredibly rewarding experience. With the advice of a financial planner and the support of a foundation like CWCF it can also be a smart financial tool.”

Offman concluded, “Gifts of any size can have impact. Giving through a community foundation can be an easy and rewarding experience.”
