Former county warden Ken Fisk dies at 92

HARRISTON – Former Wellington County Warden and past Harriston Mayor Ken Fisk has died at the age of 92.

A World War II naval veteran, Fisk had been living at Caressant Care in Harriston with Irene, his wife of nearly 70 years. He is also survived by the couple’s children Dr. Terry Fisk and his wife Krista, Norm Fisk and his wife Jeanne, Rick Fisk and his wife Joan, Susan Cavell and her husband Brent, Jeff Fisk and his wife Darlene, and adopted son Jack Johnston. 

A native of Walkerton, Fisk graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College, Guelph in 1949 and practiced in Harriston.

Active in local municipal politics since the 1950s, Fisk was Reeve of Harriston from 1965 to 1974  and Warden of the County of Wellington in 1968. From 1977 to 1984 he was Mayor of Harriston.

In addition to politics, Fisk was involved in community organizations including the hospital board, school board, Kinsmen and K-40 clubs, Big Brothers, the Masonic Lodge and his church.

Friends are invited to a reception to remember Fisk’s life at the Harriston Royal Canadian Legion on March 16 from 2 to 5pm.
