Food school plans four course meal to raise money

Master chef John Higgins and the staff and students from the Food School Culinary Program are planning to put on a four course meal in support of the new Sustainable Agriculture Program for Grade 11 students at Centre Wellington District High School.

The dinner will be held Jan. 17 at the Elora Legion Hall. Doors open at 6:30pm and dinner begins at 7pm.

Tickets are $50 each and must be purchased in advance. They are available at Dar’s Country Market, Sante Market, or Frabert’s Fine Foods.

Anyone needing further assistance or who has specific dietary needs is encouraged to email chef Christopher Jess at foodinyourface@gmail.com.

Chef Higgins is one of Canada’s master chefs. Not only has he worked to feed the royal family, but this Scottish born talent has run both the Four Seasons Hotels in Washington D.C. and Toronto and is now directing one of North America’s best culinary schools, George Brown.

The Food School is now both a culinary program and an agriculture program at Centre Wellington District High School in Fergus.

The chefs, culinary students, teachers and farm students all welcome everyone to take part in the fundraising meal. Ninety-five per cent of funds from tickets go to providing this kind of programming for any student in the Upper Grand District School Board.
