Flight school launches annual golf tournament

The Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre’s (WWFC) first annual golf tournament will be held at Rebel Creek Golf Club on Sept. 21.

The event is a fundraiser for student pilot scholarship to assist with the financial side of training, since training to be a pilot is very costly and many aviation students are not eligible for OSAP or other financial support.

“One of the biggest stumbling blocks with training is the cost,” commented Bob Connors, general manager

“We want to help, so WWFC has established a student pilot scholarship fund to help students achieve their aviation goals.”

The golf tournament is open to men and women in the Region of Waterloo and surrounding areas, including the GTA.

Events include a 50/50 helicopter ball drop, generously donated by Great Lakes Helicopter, as well as putting contest, hole-in-one and longest drive. A silent auction with more than 35 items will also be featured.

Registration is $160/golfer, which includes 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch and dinner.

Tickets are also available for dinner for those who are not interested in golfing, but want to come out to support the cause.

The cost is $50/person for the dinner, which will also give guests access to participate in the 50/50 ball drop and silent auction.

Registration will close on Sept. 10.
