Women’s weekend - A group of local female hockey enthusiasts joined together to host the inaugural WHY (Women’s Hockey for Youth) Tournament at Centre 2000 on March 7 and 8. According to co-convenors Lori Turk and Janice Merkley, eight teams comprised of local ladies from Erin, Caledon and Alton were registered for the tournament. Participating teams included the Udder Guys, Bush Women, Hot Mamas, Crease Lightning, Group Therapy and Iceaholics.

Two teams vie for the puck. All funds raised will be donated to the Main Place Youth Center that will serve local youths aged 13 to 19, offering drop-in programming and skill-building workshops to help support social-emotional growth. The centre is scheduled to open its doors this spring.
