The Wellington Centre for Sustainable Agriculture (WCSA) is hosting the first annual Fergus whole hog barbecue.
To the tune of a live blues band, the event will feature local chefs submitting their entries to judges Zane Caplansky (Caplansky’s, Toronto) and others, as they compete for top spot as Fergus’ elite pig roaster.
The event will provide an opportunity to talk to the chefs, savour the flavours of their craft and take a walk through the newly transformed grounds of the historic farmhouse.
The WCSA is a not-for profit corporation with a volunteer board of directors made up of passionate members of the community who all believe in promoting a healthy & vibrant food system. The WCSA’s main task is to work with the staff and students at Centre Wellington District High School in the delivery of a fully integrated sustainable agriculture program for grade 11 students.
A limited number of tickets are available and can be purchased online through the WCSA website (www.wellingtoncsa.com) or at select locations around the community.
Tickets are $25 for adults before September 1 and $35 thereafter. Children 12 and under are free.
Sponsorship opportunities are also still available.
The event will take place September 7 from 3pm to 7pm at 570 Belsyde Rd., Fergus.
