Firefighters receive permission for toll
Centre Wellington council approved a bylaw on Monday night that will permit volunteer firefighters from the Elora station to hold a toll on the Metcalfe Street bridge here this Saturday.
The firefighters will be collecting donations to benefit Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
Clerk Marion Morris told council in a report that Wellington County roads committee and the county OPP support the toll, something the local fire departments have done for many years.
Fergus firefighters held their toll on Tower street a few weeks ago.
Council was unanimous in granting approval.
