Fire prevention officers will be shared in Mount Forest, Arthur
It looks like there will be some sharing between the Arthur and Mount Forest Fire Departments.
Wellington North Township’s fire committee recently reviewed the fire prevention officer position in Arthur in conjunction with the fire prevention service in Mount Forest.
In order to provide a cohesive fire prevention service at both departments, the committee is recommending the service now being provided by Ian Wallace and Jason Benns include both the Mount Forest and Arthur fire departments.
Committee chairman Ross Chaulk said there was no current fire prevention officer in Arthur, and Wallace and Benns have provided the service in Mount Forest.
“It makes sense to have a cohesive service,” Chaulk said.
He added it was also a recommendation from the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office, which would be coming to council next week.
“This shows consistency by using the same people in both places,” Chaulk said.
