Fire at Mapleton Metallurgical quickly contained
Centre Wellington firefighters from Fergus and Elora responded to a fire at Mapleton Metallurgical Specialties on Gartshore Street here on April 21.
Centre Wellington Fire Chief Brad Patton said about 19 firefighters were on the scene for about one hour.
“The fire was contained to an air filtration unit, likely caused by a spark or ember from the furnace used to melt metal,” Patton said.
The chief estimated damage at between $5,000 and $8,000.
